This session will explore the impacts that the U.S. health system has on the environment including energy consumption, water usage, pollution emissions and waste discharges. Panel will discuss healthcare operations and facilities that use and discharge hazardous substances (including radioactive wastes). We will examine the effects of these on public health and patient outcomes. Session will dive into efforts and trends seeking to develop, implement and increase sustainability programs to reduce the environmental footprint of healthcare operations and improve patient safety.
