Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession

Presented by Riverside County Bar Association Family Law Section

CLE Seminar Workshop Credit: 1 hour Implicit Bias

Elimination of Bias in the Legal Profession provides attorneys an opportunity to learn how, when, where and why bias develops, as well as how to identify bias in others and within themselves. Implicit bias is universal – everyone has is! Yet these biases are uniquely your own as they are shaped by individual life experiences. Although everyone has them, most are generally unaware of their presence and effects, meaning implicit bias can negatively impact our decisions without our knowing. The goal of this program is to ensure the ability to identify and disrupt biases that have become institutionalized and identify broader and deeper dimensions of diversity in the legal profession.
