On the centenary of the first American Bar Association meeting in the United Kingdom, this conference will celebrate 100 years of ABA visits to the UK, and compare the interaction between innovation and tradition in law and law practice in the UK and the U.S., in areas such as class actions and litigation funding, merger control, and regulatory regimes, as well as rules of professional responsibility and the scope of attorney-client privilege
FEATURED PANELS:
- Divergent approaches to copyright infringement issues related to generative AI use (from the model training stage to the model usage stage, including prompts and the use of AI output) in the US, UK/EU, and Asia. The discussion will also explore whether AI-generated products can be copyrighted.
- The impact of these policy approaches on the image rights industry, including the ownership, infringement, and enforcement of AI-generated work (such as deep fakes and creator image rights). Additionally, it will highlight examples of evolving systems successfully deployed with the aid of AI to identify image and "look-alike" piracy.
- The best platform to resolve these issues, given the likely global and cross-border challenges arising from deployment. It will also consider whether ADR can offer cost-effective solutions to resolve conflicts and, if so, which ADR approach is likely to be the most effective tool.
