Hon. Ben Davidian (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Sacramento

Former superior court judge joins JAMS as arbitrator and mediator

New Panelist Announcement

Sacramento, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Ben Davidian (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Davidian joins JAMS with decades of experience as an attorney, government official and judge in the Sacramento County Superior Court. He was appointed to the superior court in 2009 and served over 12 years, including his most recent assignment of almost seven years as the supervising civil settlement conference judge.

While on the bench, Judge Davidian personally presided over more than 150 jury trials, and as supervising judge of the court’s civil settlement center, he performed thousands of voluntary and mandatory settlement conferences. He also managed thousands more mandatory settlement conferences performed by judges pro tem.

Based in the Sacramento Resolution Center, Judge Davidian will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and special master/referee, and handle business and commercial, construction defect, employment, government and public agency, health care, insurance, personal injury, professional liability, real property and real estate disputes. He is available to conduct sessions in person (adhering to reopening guidelines), as well as virtually for attorneys and their clients across the country.

Judge Davidian is highly regarded for his dedication, personable demeanor and creativity in helping parties to reach a resolution. He brings a deep knowledge of the law that he’s gained over his 40 years in the legal profession, which will serve him well in this new role as a JAMS panelist.

- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO

Judge Davidian has worked in both private law practice and government service. As a practitioner, Judge Davidian specialized his practice in the areas of political, election and campaign law; professional negligence; administrative law; government law; and business litigation. He was honored to be named Judge of the Year by the Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association in 2017 and Judge of the Year by the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2018.

Judge Davidian is a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as a flight-rated navigator, attaining the rank of captain. His service included a combat tour in Southeast Asia.

Throughout my career, I’ve found that being able to connect with parties and truly listen to all of the complexities of a case are the stepping stones to reaching a resolution. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my journey as a neutral at JAMS.

- Hon. Ben Davidian (Ret.)

Judge Davidian received his B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Utah and his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of Law.
