Awards Panelist News

Dallas – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Harlin DeWayne Hale (Ret.) has been recognized as the recipient of the 2024 Fellows Justinian Award by the Dallas Bar Foundation. This honor was presented during the organization’s 31st Annual Luncheon on October 17.

Presented annually, the Fellows Justinian Award is the most prestigious honor of the Dallas Bar Foundation and recognizes attorneys who have achieved and consistently demonstrated the highest level of professional excellence in a substantive area of the law. Judge Hale has received this award for his career-long commitment to advancing the field of bankruptcy law and for his efforts mentoring hundreds of law students and law clerks during his tenure at the United States Bankruptcy Court.

Additionally, Lisbeth Bulmash, Esq., and Hon. Glen M. Ashworth (Ret.) were awarded fellowships by the Dallas Bar Foundation. New Fellows are identified each year through a nomination process, and selection for the Fellows Program is evidence of professional distinction and constitutes a professional honor. All Fellows are attorneys who have demonstrated a high ethical standard and a commitment to the cause of justice and welfare of the community.

“Congratulations to Judge Hale, Judge Ashworth and Ms. Bulmash on these recognitions from the Dallas Bar Foundation. All three neutrals have led careers that are distinguished by their investments in the legal industry and the pursuit of advancing justice. We are pleased to have Judge Hale, Judge Ashworth and Ms. Bulmash on our panel and thank them for their efforts to support the Dallas legal community and beyond.”

Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president

Judge Hale joined JAMS in 2022 after serving on the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas for almost 20 years, including a two-year term as chief judge. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he served as regional partner in charge of the bankruptcy practice at Baker & McKenzie in Dallas, overseeing a range of matters involving complex chapter 11, health care insolvency and the bankruptcy of one of the country’s largest poultry producers.

Prior to joining JAMS, Judge Ashworth presided over hundreds of settlements and bench and jury trials during his 22 years of distinguished service on the 86th Judicial District Court. He has extensive experience in the resolution of complex multi-party disputes in all areas of civil litigation and is widely recognized for the empathy, persistence and fairness he channels in each case that he handles.

Ms. Bulmash joined JAMS in 2020 with more than 20 years of experience as a conflict resolution practitioner and a co-founder of an ADR firm. Before starting her ADR firm, she served as a litigation attorney in a diverse array of firms, including a law firm specializing in defense, a law firm representing primarily plaintiffs and a national property casualty insurance company.
