Riverside, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Elia V. Pirozzi (Ret.) has joined its panel. Judge Pirozzi joins JAMS following a 14-year career with the San Bernardino County Superior Court and two years as an assigned judge for unlimited civil and felony trial courts.
Judge Pirozzi served two terms in the Appellate Division of the court, including one term as assistant presiding judge. His experience includes countless jury trials, bench trials, complex civil motions and settlement conferences, along with significant judicial experience across a wide range of legal matters. As a settlement judge and mediator, he has been credited with developing creative and pragmatic techniques and innovative approaches to resolving complex issues while exhibiting patience, compassion and empathy during the case resolution process.
Based in the Inland Empire Resolution Center, Judge Pirozzi will serve as a mediator, arbitrator, special master, discovery referee and neutral evaluator, handling automotive, business/commercial, civil rights, construction and construction defect, eminent domain, employment, environmental, finance, professional liability, personal injury and real estate cases. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.
“As a jurist, Judge Pirozzi stands out for his commitment to treating parties with fairness and for his ability to navigate even the most complex of cases. Through his work on the bench, as an educator and in private practice, he has developed a deep understanding of many areas of the law and the strong interpersonal skills that will make him a fantastic addition to our panel.”
Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president.
Judge Pirozzi has authored numerous law review and legal articles on evidence and constitutional issues, including the California Guide to Criminal Evidence, currently in its eighth edition. During his tenure as a judicial officer, he served as faculty for a wide variety of educational programs for bench officers throughout the state. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he worked as an attorney in his own private practice, the Law Offices of Elia V. Pirozzi. Additionally, he has been a licensed real estate broker since 1978 and previously held a Series 7 securities license.
“What I have learned over my decades of legal practice is the difference that a compassionate, pragmatic and thorough approach can make in the outcome of a case. For me, the ability to connect with parties goes hand in hand with understanding the facts of a case, and I look forward to continuing to take on new dispute resolution challenges with JAMS,” said Judge Pirozzi.
Judge Pirozzi earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge; his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law; and his LL.M, cum laude, in environmental law and international and comparative law from the University of San Diego School of Law.
