Hon. Lee R. Bogdanoff (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Century City

Former superior court judge joins JAMS as a mediator and arbitrator

New Panelist Announcement

Century City, Calif. – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. Lee R. Bogdanoff (Ret.) has joined its panel. Judge Bogdanoff joins JAMS following a distinguished career as a superior court judge for the County of Los Angeles and, before that, as a nationally recognized practitioner in bankruptcy, reorganization and business/commercial disputes.

Judge Bogdanoff brings wide experience in both federal and state courts, a well-honed business acumen developed through his nationally recognized practice, and a practical approach to disputes. Most recently, he served as a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge, handling estate, trust, conservatorship, guardianship and related civil matters. While on the bench, he presided over numerous trials and issued statements of decisions and rulings that were widely circulated among judicial officers and the bar, as well as served a settlement judge.

Based in the Century City Resolution Center, Judge Bogdanoff will serve as a mediator and arbitrator, handling bankruptcy, business and commercial, and estate, probate and trust matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.

“Judge Bogdanoff is known across the country for his thorough case preparation and aptitude for resolving disputes. His incredible depth of experience, combined with his keen eye for understanding the details and nuances of complicated legal matters, sets him apart as a practitioner, and we look forward to the perspective he will bring to our JAMS panel.”

Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Bogdanoff spent over 30 years in private practice, handling bankruptcy, reorganization, and business and commercial matters. He worked on many of the largest and most complex cases at the time, including representing Enron, Washington Mutual and IndyMac estates in groundbreaking commercial litigation. He also served as one of the lead counsel in the Chapter 9 cases of Orange County, California, and Jefferson County, Alabama, among other matters. In his practice, Judge Bogdanoff was known for his detail-oriented approach to putting together complex, multiparty settlements of what appeared to be otherwise intractable disputes.

“Throughout my time in private practice as well as on the bench, I learned that there is no singular approach to dispute resolution and that each case requires understanding the unique dynamics of the parties involved. It is important to always be prepared, able to pivot and think creatively about how to best move a case forward. I look forward to continuing my work in my new role at JAMS,” said Judge Bogdanoff.

Judge Bogdanoff earned his B.S from the University of California, Davis, and his J.D., Order of the Coif, from the UC Berkeley School of Law.
