In Memoriam
Maria Walsh
(1952-2025)

Maria Walsh, who served as a JAMS neutral, non-profit volunteer, administrative judge, litigator and corporate executive, passed away February 27, 2025.

An influential member of the JAMS Boston office, Maria dedicated much of her life to making a meaningful impact in the ADR world. She was instrumental in shaping our mission and values, embodying the notion that “We Do Good.” During two-plus decades at JAMS, Maria resolved employment, commercial and numerous other disputes. She was highly respected by her clients as a “fabulous,” “effective” and “creative” mediator. She also served as a Special Master handling asbestos litigation for the Massachusetts Superior Court for over 20 years. Before joining JAMS, Maria worked as a trial lawyer and served as vice president of Plymouth Rock Assurance Company and as chairman and commissioner of the Massachusetts Labor Relations Commission.

When she wasn’t spending time with her family or immersed in her work, Maria was a world traveler and a voracious reader. She excelled at horseback riding and lacrosse and embraced life with boundless curiosity.

Maria is survived by her wife of 34 years, Deb, her daughters Dian Dian and Elizabeth, and her extended family, Joel, Daphne, Sam and Quinn. She leaves behind a legacy of excellence, compassion and unwavering commitment to the work she did and people she worked with. She will be greatly missed by all who have had the honor of knowing her.
