Background and Education

F. Carlton King, Jr., Esq. is an experienced mediator and arbitrator who has handled cases in many substantive areas of practice. With more than 50 years of experience as an active trial lawyer, he has represented individuals and multinational corporations, plaintiffs and defendants, in both federal and state courts across the country. This background provides him with insight into the wide array of legal and practical issues that can impact settlement. 

As a mediator and arbitrator, Mr. King has resolved numerous personal injury matters, including medical malpractice, product liability, and wrongful death cases. He also has experience with employment, real estate, insurance, trusts & estates, as well as a variety of business/commercial disputes. 

In mediation, Mr. King gives both sides his honest evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses and parties appreciate his candor. As an arbitrator, he is an active participant in the process. He ensures that matters move along efficiently and manages the hearing process while still allowing them to present their case. 

Mr. King is available to hear cases virtually or in person in Atlanta.

      • Mediated a contract dispute between a doctor and medical research company
      • Mediated and arbitrated disputes involving banking and other financial institutions, including credit cards and credit unions
      • Arbitrated many Coin Operated Amusement Machine (COAM) cases
      • Arbitrated several consumer matters involving car title loans

      • Arbitrated many nursing home cases involving allegations of personal injury or wrongful death; issues included alleged negligence, medical malpractice,

      • Arbitrated a variety of medical malpractice claims involving facilities such as nursing homes, long term care facilities, and hospitals
  • Employment Law
      • Arbitrated a breach of employment contract dispute related to furloughs and financial assistance received because of the COVID-19 pandemic
      • Arbitrated a FSLA overtime collective action
      • Arbitrated a breach of a contract claim where a CEO disputed a discharge for cause
      • Mediated an employment dispute between a senior living facility and a former employee
      • Mediated numerous sexual harassment claims
      • Mediated a race and national origin discrimination claim against a city
      • Mediated a case where a school superintendent was dismissed by a local school board
      • Mediated a race discrimination claim against a senior manager of a major retail chain
      • Mediated several claims for unpaid commissions and stock options
      • Mediated numerous claims involving denial of disability benefits
