Former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Jane Cutler Greenspan Joins JAMS in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA - JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services in the United States, today announced the addition of the Hon. Jane Cutler Greenspan (Ret.) to its panel. Justice Greenspan will be based in the JAMS Philadelphia Resolution Center where she will specialize as a mediator, arbitrator, and discovery master for disputes in a variety of areas including appellate, business commercial, class action, insurance, personal injury, and real property. 

“We are pleased to welcome Justice Greenspan, who will bring to her work at JAMS the deep perspective of a long and distinguished legal career,” said JAMS President and CEO Chris Poole. “Justice Greenspan has strong experience dealing with legal and business issues important to many attorneys and their clients.”

“I have been fortunate to have gained such wide-ranging experience throughout my career,” said Justice Greenspan.  “It has allowed me to see many different perspectives, and I am looking forward to utilizing this in my new role with JAMS.”

Justice Greenspan joins the JAMS panel following more than three decades including an appointment as Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, 20 years of judicial service in the Trial Division of the Court of Common Pleas, and more than 10 years as Assistant District Attorney, where she served as Chief of the Domestic Violence Unit and Chief of Superior Court Appeals.

Justice Greenspan authored several noteworthy Supreme Court of Pennsylvania decisions pertaining to insurance coverage, legal and medical malpractice, class actions, environmental, trusts and estates, bankruptcy, elections, taxation, municipalities and government, employment, surety, and other areas of law.

Justice Greenspan is a 2008 recipient of the “Award for Service to the Bench, Bar, and Citizenry” from the Lawyers’ Club of Philadelphia. In addition, she is certified as a civil mediator by the National Judicial College, a Director of the American College of Business Court Judges, a member of the American Law Institute, a former President and Chairman of the University of Pennsylvania American Inn of Court, and an adjunct professor and Arlin M. Adams Lecturer-in-Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

She frequently speaks before numerous legal and professional organizations including the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, and the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations.  Justice Greenspan earned her J.D. (with high honors) from Rutgers University School of Law in 1973 and her A.B. from Smith College in 1970.
