Austin, Texas – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Karl Bayer has joined its panel. Mr. Bayer joins JAMS with over 30 years of dispute resolution experience spanning a wide range of practice areas.
Throughout his career, Mr. Bayer has held a variety of positions and worked as an engineer, entrepreneur and inventor, staff attorney and legislative director for state and federal agencies, and trial attorney. He is a sought-after mediator and arbitrator in technology disputes and frequently serves as a court-appointed neutral in intellectual property matters. In particular, he assists parties in federal court as an appointed “Markman master,” in pretrial discovery matters and as a technical advisor to the court.
Based in Austin, Mr. Bayer will serve as a mediator, arbitrator and court-appointed neutral, handling business/commercial, employment, energy and utilities, engineering and construction, intellectual property, smart contracts/blockchain and telecommunication cases. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.
Mr. Bayer is widely respected for his exceptional know-how when it comes to handling cases, particularly those that involve technology and intellectual property disputes. He has decades of experience working with parties in both the private and public sectors and a deep understanding of how to navigate complex cases to help parties reach an effective resolution.
- Chris Poole, JAMS CEO
As a mediator, Mr. Bayer has handled over 3,000 cases. Although most of his mediations have been between private parties, he has also mediated several cases involving governments and major public policy issues. As an arbitrator, he has been appointed to over 100 cases, three-fourths of which were commercial disputes and with approximately 80% going to final award. Since 2006, he has served as a court-appointed neutral in over 70 matters, writing reports and recommendations involving claims construction, discovery, pretrial management, health care and commercial disputes.
With experience as an engineer, entrepreneur and trial lawyer, I enjoy applying my scientific mind to the resolution of complex disputes involving technology, public policy, construction, energy and other commercial matters. I’m looking forward to embarking on this journey as a JAMS neutral alongside so many talented panelists.
