New Panelist Announcement

San Francisco – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Douglas R. Young, Esq., has joined its panel. Mr. Young joins JAMS after more than four decades as a trial and appellate litigator.

Mr. Young spent most of his legal career at Farella Braun + Martel LLP, where he practiced from 1977 to 2024. During his tenure with the firm, he handled a wide range of matters, including international antitrust and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) claims, intellectual property cases, securities and antitrust class actions and investigations, white collar criminal defense, and parallel civil, criminal and regulatory proceedings.

Based in the San Francisco Resolution Center, Mr. Young will serve as a mediator, arbitrator, court-appointed neutral (referee/special master) and neutral evaluator, handling antitrust, business and commercial, financial services, intellectual property, privacy and cybersecurity, and securities matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.

“Mr. Young is revered within the San Francisco Bay Area legal community and beyond for his diligent preparation and ability to understand clients’ needs and exercise discretion and creativity when navigating even the most complex cases. We are confident that his decades of experience and sharp legal insight will provide value to the parties we serve.”

While in private practice, Mr. Young tried more than 50 trials to verdict, argued more than 40 appeals in state and federal courts, served on numerous arbitration panels and acted as a mediator selected by agreement of the parties. “As a litigator, my legal philosophy is rooted in discipline, preparation and agility. Through my years of practice, I’ve learned the value of discernment and how to structure my advocacy around the needs of a case. I’m looking forward to bringing these same principles to my work with JAMS and am thrilled to embark to this next chapter in my career,” said Mr. Young.

Mr. Young earned his B.A., cum laude, from Yale University and his J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law, where he served as the executive editor of the California Law Review.
