Background and Education
Hon. Elizabeth A. Weishaupl (Ret.) joined JAMS in Denver following over 14 years of distinguished service to the 18th Judicial District of Colorado. This populous district comprises the southern suburbs of Denver, as well as Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties. While serving on the bench, Judge Weishaupl presided over civil, domestic, criminal and probate dockets, including hundreds of jury trials and trials to the court and thousands of motions hearings.
Prior to her appointment to the court, Judge Weishaupl served as an assistant United States attorney for the District of Colorado. In this position, she litigated almost every aspect of federal civil law, including employment, civil rights, sexual harassment and gender discrimination, age discrimination, national origin discrimination and disability discrimination. She also handled personal injury, medical malpractice, prison, general contract and environmental litigation.
Judge Weishaupl understands the unique pressure and stress that litigation can impose on all parties. An active listener, she believes that every person has a right to be heard and that this forms the basis for successful settlements.
